The Elite Getaway is an ideal program for encouraging staff to speak English in a team building environment.

The Getaway is an English language training program that takes staff out of Bangkok for 2-3 days and provides a strong and motivating environment in which teams can both work together to complete the challenges presented to them, as well as relax after class and get to know each other socially.

Ideal for Thai and Expatriate staff members

The Getaway is an ideal program for companies that employ both Thai and expatriate staff as it encourages people to get to know each other in a more exciting environment than the typical office activity.

English Activities and Getaway

For groups that are all Thai and interested in improving their English as well as getting to know their colleagues, Getaway can incorporate several language workshops to help staff with their English communication skills as well. Workshops from the Elite Short Course program are ideally included in the Getaway.

The primary objective of the English Getaway is to provide fun and effective team building exercises that give employees the opportunity to use their English language skills both in and out of the classroom. The program is designed to motivate, to make employees realize common goals and to develop networks across the organization.

Participants will be required to speak English as often as possible in each activity. For students at a more advanced level of English the requirement to use English would be stricter than for students at an Elementary level.

Elite can tailor the activities used on English Getaway to meet your unique objectives. However the following are set in place for all camps:

Activities and events

Elite prides itself on the originality and uniqueness of the activities used in the Getaway. Activities such as 'Hook, Line, and Sinker', 'The Egg Walk', 'The Gauntlet' and 'Message in a Bottle' are all developed with the Getaway Objectives in mind and are sure to have your team working overtime to complete!

It is recommended that Getaway take place in locations outside of Bangkok, which allows for less distractions and a more focussed approach to the program.

Suggested locations include Hua Hin, Pattaya and Jomtien, Khao Yai, and Kanchanaburi.

The MSD team was highly motivated and enthusiastic helping to make this a great event. In order to participate in this Getaway each person had to prove their commitment to learning English by collecting ‘stamps’ in their ‘English Passport’. Through their well-managed English Club program, in combination with Elite English Getaways, all of the employees at MSD will surely continue to progress toward fluency. The Best Win Corporate Getaway

The Best Win Corporate Getaway was held on the 8^th & 9^th of September at the Brookside Valley Resort in Rayong, Thailand. The two-day program provided the participants with an opportunity to grow both as individuals and as a team. The Best Win team brought enthusiasm, creativity, and lots of cultural diversity to Brookside Valley. From the moment the program started, it was apparent that all participants had to come to grow, learn, teach, and share…together. There were lots of lighthearted moments to lighten some of the more thought provoking activities. The Best Win team brought innovative and open-minded thinking to its Catapult and Walk Rally solutions. Best of all, perhaps, might be the fact that Best Win team displayed good sportsmanship and genuinely worked together and for the benefit of the team. At the conclusion of this year’s event, it was quite obvious that the Best Win team had grown and become stronger. Learning and understanding one’s own value and skills is to learn only part of the lesson. When we learn the value and skills of others, our team, we have then learned one of life’s most valuable and important lessons. Great job, Best Win!

The Ascott International English Getaway Camp

The Ascott International English Getaway Camp was held recently at Phupimarn Resort and Spa in Khao Yai. The Getaway focused on building relationships between the Management Executives at Ascott’s five locations in Bangkok.

The participants felt they derived multiple benefits from the Getaway activities, including the importance of clear and concise communication and the value each team member brings to a group.

Here is some of the feedback from the participants:

From which activity did you gain the most benefit? Why?

“The Walk Rally, because it was composed of a variety of different activities that required both mental and physical skills. We had to work in a team, run together, think together and make decisions as a group. It made us equals.”

“Egg Drop & Mission Launch, as this activity really makes us realize and appreciate each other’s differences and potential. The group participation is actively shown by all team members in the accomplishment of the task.”

How can you now apply this to your work? What aspect of your work do you feel you can improve on, based on what we covered in the objectives?

“I’m going to get my staff to do the ‘back to back’ activity, so they can see the difference between trying to stand alone and working as a team.”

English Getaway, 27 - 28 February 2004

Thank you to all of our friends who were able to attend the English Getaway, 27 - 28 February, 2004 at the Pinnacle Resort, Pattaya. The two days were very full and the staff at Elite really appreciated your attendance.

The objectives for the camp were quite broad and we were happy for the opportunity to become acquainted and demonstrate our services, and allow for networking amongst the participants. Each of the activities provided a chance to introduce you to the types of activities that we organise for both the Active English Program and the English Getaway.

English Getaway for Secretaries

Elite Training Institute was proud to present a 3 day English Getaway for Secretaries for C.P. 7 Eleven Company in Khao Yai, from 26-28 September, 2003. The camp was attended by nearly 30 staff from C.P. and they participated in a variety of activities aimed at the following objectives:

Kasikorn Bank Getaway

Elite Training was proud to present to Kasikornbank two weekend "Getaways" covering the topics of Negotiation Skills on the first camp and Customer Service on the second.

The main feature of the camp, however, was the chance for participants to get out of the office and get to know their colleagues and focus on the following objectives:

The camp involved both inside and outside activities, ranging from the Egg Drop to the Walk Rally, a Mr and Ms Kasikornbank talent competition as well as classroom activities such as Liar, Liar!!! and Liferaft.
